The nine numbers

Every number is a planet

The navagraha — the nine planets of Vedic astrology — map one to one onto the digits 1 to 9. That correspondence is why nothing here reduces to a tenth number.

The 3×3 grid

What the Lo Shu grid shows

The digits of your date of birth are placed into this fixed square. The reading is not the square itself — it is which cells fill, which repeat, and which stay empty.

  • Present. Numbers that appear in your date at least once.
  • Repeated. A number appearing more than once intensifies that planet.
  • Missing. Empty cells are where the classical remedies are aimed.
  • Planes & arrows. Complete rows, columns and diagonals each have a named reading.

Common questions

Questions people actually ask

What is a Moolank?
Your Moolank, or driver number, is the day of the month you were born reduced to a single digit. Born on the 22nd, 2 + 2 = 4, so your Moolank is 4. It is traditionally read as your basic nature — how you approach things by instinct.
What is the difference between Moolank and Bhagyank?
Moolank uses only the day. Bhagyank uses every digit of the full date of birth, added and reduced. The most common mistake is adding only the year. Moolank is read as nature; Bhagyank as the direction life tends to pull you.
Why are 11, 22 and 33 reduced here?
Master numbers are a Western Pythagorean device. Vedic Ank Jyotish is built on the nine planets — every number maps to one of the navagraha, and there is no tenth or eleventh planet for an unreduced 11 or 22 to point at. So every number reduces to 1–9.
Does the spelling of my name really change the number?
Yes. Namank is calculated from the Chaldean values of the letters, so Sathish and Satheesh compute differently. This is also why we only accept names in English letters — transliterating for you would silently change your number.
Is numerology scientifically proven?
No. Numerology is a belief-based practice with a long tradition in India. What we can promise is that the arithmetic is done correctly and shown openly, so you can check every number yourself. Nothing here is a prediction of outcomes.
