Ank Jyotish · the 3×3 square
The Lo Shu Grid
A 3×3 square where every row, every column and both diagonals add to 15. Your date of birth is written into it one digit at a time, and what the grid shows is not the numbers you have — it is the pattern of what you have repeatedly, and what you do not have at all.
The fixed positions
4 + 9 + 2 = 15 · 3 + 5 + 7 = 15 · 8 + 1 + 6 = 15
These positions never move. Every chart uses the same square — only which cells fill up changes from person to person.
How your date fills it
Write the date of birth out in full and place each digit in its own cell. Zeros are skipped — there is no cell for them.
22-03-1990 → 2 · 2 · 3 · 1 · 9 · 9
Filled cells carry that quality. Dashed cells are the ones this date never produced, and they are usually the more interesting half of the reading.
Fill the grid with your own date, free — it draws as you type, with no email or phone required.
What each cell governs
Every number answers to one of the nine planets — the navagraha. That is why there are nine cells and not ten, and why 11 and 22 are reduced rather than kept.

Count, not presence
How many times a number appears
A number appearing three times is not three times better than once. Past a point the quality stops being a strength and starts running the person.
- 0
- absent — an area of life you must consciously develop
- 1
- present in balance
- 2
- strong and well developed
- 3
- excessive — this quality can dominate your personality
- 4
- extreme — a defining, sometimes overpowering force in your life
The three planes
Read the grid in rows and it splits into three levels — how a person thinks, how they feel, and what they actually do.
Mental Plane
4 · 9 · 2
thinking, memory, analysis
Emotional Plane
3 · 5 · 7
feelings, intuition, relationships
Practical Plane
8 · 1 · 6
action, money, physical results
Three in a row
The eight arrows
Three filled cells in a line form an arrow. Three empty cells in the same line form its opposite, and that reading matters just as much — an absence is a pattern too.
